Face Makeup FAQs
What is Highlighter and how do I use it?
Highlighter is a light-reflecting product this is available to purchase in a liquid, cream or powder form. This product is extremely popular thanks to its ability to enhance your complexion by giving your skin a radiant, dewy and healthy glow. Typically, highlighter is applied to the highest points of the face such as the cheekbones and tip of the nose, you can use minimal product to create a subtle radiance or build up the product to create serious shimmer.
What is the difference between Bronzer and Contour?
Bronzer is designed to make your complexion look warm and healthy by creating a sun-kissed glow. Therefore, when applying bronzer, aim for the high points of your face where the sun would naturally hit your skin. Whereas contouring, is all about creating the effect of shadow and light by using a cool toned contour powder. If you’re new to contouring, be sure to play around with different lines, sculpting your face with shadows until you find the look that works for you.
Is there a difference between cream and powder contour?
Generally, cream contour is easier to apply and you don’t necessarily need brushes to do so. Cream products work well with drier, more aged skin and tend to last a long time, as they do not require much product to create the desired look. Powder contour on the other hand, lasts much longer than the cream alternatives. Perfect for oily skin, these powders provide you with an airbrushed matte appearance that is highly desired and can easily be blended and layered. To help make your base makeup last the longest possible time, try using powder products over cream products to set them in place.
What is Concealer for?
As the name suggests, concealer allows you to get away with a whole range of daily skin issues you would rather keep hidden. This means that it can be used around the eyes to reduce the visual impact of sleep deprivation; the covering of blemishes, or even to help even out your skin tone. There are different types of concealer available depending on your skin tone or type, so make sure you experiment to find the right one for you.
What is Blusher used for?
Similar to bronzer, blusher is a great way of adding colour to your face in a subtle way, helping to create a healthy sun-kissed complexion. While it is mainly used on the cheekbones, it can be used anywhere that a little extra colour is necessary which is perfect for those wanting to create a fresh-faced, natural look.
